Dr. V. Reggie Edgerton has been the Director of UCLA’s Edgerton Lab since 1968 and is a professor in the Department of Physiological Sciences at UCLA. His research is focused on neural control of movement and how this neural control adapts to altered use and after spinal cord injury. He completed his PhD under the direction of Drs. Wayne Van Huss, Rex Carrow, and William Heusner at Michigan State University. Dr. Edgerton is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Christopher Reeve Foundation (CRF), and his is one of eight labs in the world receiving funding from the CRF.

Research Interest

A key question researched in Edgerton lab is how the neural networks in the lumbar spinal cord of mammals, including humans, control stepping and locomotion after complete spinal cord injury.
